Friends’ Message to Our Local Businesses on Supporting the Picture Book campaign
The Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, a community-based support group for the Chesterfield County Public Library, launched a children’s Picture Book Fundraising campaign in October 2020. The Friends’ goal is to raise enough funds to purchase at least 1,000 picture books for the library system composed of ten libraries. There is a significant need for bright, new books for our children, particularly during this time when so many are at home. We need your help to reach this goal.
Picture books comprise the 2nd most in-demand item for library users. This largely grassroots effort project to improve the picture book collection needs the support of the business community and our citizens. Thanks to the generosity of our county residents, we are over 78% of meeting the goal! Now we need your help to reach our goal and support our children.
We thought of you, the businesses of Chesterfield, and localities stretching from Petersburg to RVA. You are the businesses that Chesterfield’s families look to for jobs, products, and community support. Collections of picture books, placed in neat stacks in libraries for in-person enjoyment or checkout, are like primary landmarks. They signify community and caring about the youngest members of our society!
We recognize that you already know that donating to the Picture Book Fundraiser is an investment in both the present and the future. We want to give you and your company the opportunity to make a difference for our children. Your financial support will boost early literacy and family bonding by providing much-needed books for our libraries.
A small donation of $20 allows the Friends to purchase one new book. Your donation of $100 would bring five new titles. Your generous donation of $500 would help us secure 25 new books. An even more generous donation of $1000 will provide 50 books. And, if you wanted bookplates in the picture books, you might consider donating a bit more so that your company’s name can be part of our collections. Do you have something more significant in mind? We are happy to talk with you!
