As a nonprofit organization that believes in enriching the lives of its community members, the Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library is always on the lookout for the best and brightest volunteers. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities at the Library branches and for special events.
Please note that a Chesterfield County Friends of the Library membership and a
Chesterfield County Public Library card in good standing are required to become a volunteer.
Board Member Positions
We are Recruiting For Important Positions! The Friends are looking for enthusiastic, library-loving volunteers for the following vacant positions.
- The Board of Directors seeks volunteers for these roles:
- Recording Secretary. The primary purpose of this role is to record and post meeting minutes in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Vice President of Corporate Giving. This role serves as Major Gifts, Bequests and Corporate Donations Chair and cultivates relationships with businesses and individuals who may become substantial benefactors.
- Vice President of Fundraising and Book Sales. This position helps coordinate Friends book sales at the board level, and identifies additional ways for the Friends to raise funds.

The next step will be to participate in a brief interview. Friends membership is a requirement of all board positions. Board members serve two-year terms and should be able to commit approximately 3-5 hours a week to their role.

Members of the Friends of the Chesterfield County Library support and enhance library services in even more ways. Members may volunteer to assist for positions such as:
- Board Members (serve on the Board)
- Branch/Chapter Leader (leader, liaison, treasurer, secretary, historian, etc.)
- Special project coordinators and supporters on projects such as:
- recruiting members
- designing materials
- book sales
- event planning
- marketing booths
- annual meeting
- special author events
- … etc!
- Speakers (authors, community leaders, etc.)
