Friends Branch Leader Wins County Award!

On April 15, Central Branch Leader, Sheila Callear, was honored for her outstanding commitment to serving the community. Sheila was selected as the 2025 Chesterfield Community Champion in the senior category! Sheila has volunteered for the Friends of Chesterfield County Public Library for nearly 40 years. She has been the dedicated leader of the Central Friends, responsible for making it into a strong and vibrant group. She has coordinated the Central Friends book sale since it began, raising tens of thousands of dollars – possibly more – over the years for the Friends, the Central Library, and the Library system as a whole. (We haven’t kept a good tally!). Her hard work, and resulting donations from the Central Friends, have undoubtedly helped support countless library initiatives like summer reading programs, special author events, building the book collections and library staff scholarships. The Friends congratulate Sheila wholeheartedly for this well-deserved honor!
