Our organization achieves its mission by:
    * focusing public attention on and creating interest
      in library resources and activities
    * fostering the idea of the Chesterfield County
Public Library as an active and dynamic cultural,
educational and recreational force in the
community and encouraging its use as a
      community center for such activities
    * encouraging and promoting the donation of gifts,
financial and otherwise, which may assist the library
    * serving as a link between the library and the
community, interpreting each to the other
    * providing knowledgeable and willing volunteers for
      library activities
    * educating members and general citizens about
the need for legislation that fosters the growth of
      the library system

Why I am a Friend
I joined the Friends of the La Prade Library after only a few years of living in Chesterfield County. My children were advancing to school age and I knew that a strong public library would be needed to help them do their best in school. I’ve always been an avid reader. Having time to volunteer with only one organization, I decided to devote my time, effort, and donations to the Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library. Over the years I’ve served as leader of the La Prade Friends, and in many capacities on the Board of the Friends, including as President.

I whole-heartedly endorse the concept that Everyone Needs Libraries. I believe that a vibrant, well funded and supported public library is essential for a community that aims to promote a high quality of life for all residents. Now, more than ever, the Public Library is making a significant difference in people’s lives.

Please join the Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library. Help us support the Library in its mission to provide quality service to all Chesterfield County residents.
